A Bit of History
The Unique Folding Table Pad product was patented in the 1930s by the Unique Folding Table Pad Company and production was started by a Mr. Farguson in an upstairs room on Tudor Lane, Cardiff, near the railway station and the River Taff. In the mid 50s the company was managed by the Flynn brothers and moved to its own workshop on Sloper Road, Cardiff, opposite the football stadium and next to Johnston Mints. At this time there were about six production staff including Mr. & Mrs. Biss.
When the original owners retired in 1982, the business was purchased by Bury Cooper Whitehead Ltd who continued the high standard of craftsmanship until the day they closed in 1998 and the business was transferred to Waterside Manufacturing (Unique) Ltd. on Chew Valley Road, Oldham
Anglo Brands bought the business in June 2009 and installed it in their craft manufacturing department in Whitworth, Lancashire.
In October 2014 Anglo Brands sold the business to Goodes (UK) Ltd trading as Unique Folding Table Pads, and we have relocated the production line to Ashbourne, Derbyshire where the table pads are being made in the same way and with the same care and attention as they have always been.
Each table pad is individually manufactured to suit customers' particular requirements - a genuine British-made product.
